for the disc to wear-in to the flywheel or you risk hotspots on the flywheel. I don't have any proof, sorry...just what I was told. I don't suppose it would be near as important if you had your flywheel resurfaced, but I would still take it easy on it for a few miles til the surface of the flywheel smooths out pretty well. Just my $.02
